Like most of North America, the state of Ohio as i Like most of North America, the state of Ohio as it is now, is the result of millions of years of geological change. Once covered by glaciers, what is now Ohio used to be a inland sea, just like the Great Lakes are now. Later, rivers carved out gorges and cliffs in the sandstone that was once the sea bed. The third largest city in the United States of Ame The third largest city in the United States of America (after New York City and Los Angeles), and the largest city in the state of Illinois, Chicago is located on the shore of Lake Michigan. The world's first skyscraper was built here in 1885, and many historic high-rise buildings can still be admired today in downtown Chicago, aka 'the Loop'. The Galápagos islands, an archipelago of vulcanic The Galápagos islands, an archipelago of vulcanic islands (13 larger islands and 115 smaller ones) located at the equator, a thousand kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, boast a unique flora and fauna, with species which are nowhere else to be found.
